Spanish Broadcasting System Inc. and MEGA TV announced the appointment of Claudia Trejos as General Producer and Principal Talent for MEGA SPORTS, segment dedicated to sports news within the newscast, MEGA NEWS.

Trejos, a successful sports media personality, will be the primary On-Air Talent and lead the Production efforts for the network's new Sports Department.

"ENCUENTRO DEPORTIVO" (Sport Encounter) is a featured segment dedicated to Sports News, inside MEGA TV's two newscasts. Monday through Friday, in MEGA NEWS at 5pm (ET) and during MEGA NEWS NOCTURNO (Night Edition) at 10:30 pm (ET), the audience will enjoy 15 minutes of exciting sports news. The nightly segments will start, Tuesday the 7th of September.

"Claudia personifies Mega Sports and the trailblazing spirit we are fostering," said Rene Rodriguez, Director Sports Programming. "Her extensive experience and deep understanding of the special relationship between Hispanics and Sports will help us deliver an unparalleled offering to our audience."

"This is an exciting opportunity for me," said Trejos. "In my new role, I will be able to tap into the myriad of experiences and contacts I've accumulated over the years to help create a unique and powerful sports programming for fans and advertisers alike."

Prior to accepting this new position, Ms. Trejos worked as a producer for the Univision Network covering the 2010 World Cup. From December 2009 and until her departure to South Africa, Claudia was a featured collaborator on Mega TV's nightly show -- Los Implicados.

Claudia Trejos will continue to collaborate with ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN International.

Before working with ESPN, Ms. Trejos was the sports anchor for NBC/Telemundo's show "Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste" and co-host on the weekly NBA show called "NBA Max," where she was acknowledged as the first female color-commentator in the league's history.

Additionally, while covering the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Claudia made history as the first female to report on Olympic Boxing. She also co-hosted NBC's "Fan Festival" in 2003.
